Gate Safety Week has been set up by the Powered Gate Group of the Door and Hardware Federation to create awareness around the installation and maintenance of powered gates, drawing attention to specific issues such as poor installation and maintenance.

Powered and automated gates are becoming more commonplace in the design of commercial, public and multiple occupancy buildings.  However, the industry has faced problems with poor installation and maintenance, which have led to a number of accidents in recent years.  Sadly, there have also been fatalities.

Gate Safety Week has been set up to raise awareness of proper installation and maintenance of powered gates and how to prevent accidents.

The campaign has been created to educate and inform both professional installers, industry contacts and the general public on the dangers centred around poorly installed and maintained powered gates, in addition to how to report an unsafe gate and what to look for.

As a member of the DHF Powered Gate Group, you can get involved by lending your knowledge and expertise to this invaluable campaign.

The key message for 2016 is clear: ‘Safe Gates Save Lives!’ – Help us by spreading the word via your website and social media platforms.
