Yesterday’s Fencex event, held in the Midlands, was a great success and we were delighted to see so many members turning out for the day. More than 350 attendees passed through the doors, to see DHF members exhibiting in the DHF Pavilion. JCM Technologies, Cova Security Gates, EasyGates, Inova Gates, Sommer, Autogate Systens and new members AES Global, also welcomed organisations who swung by stand 52 in the pavilion to say hello to the DHF; and have their picture taken with ‘Cash’ – an Eagle Owl – who is the NSI mascot, on stand 53!
It was also great to welcome visiting members and hopefully, we’ll have some new ones joining us shortly too! Gate Safety Week was obviously the topic of discussion and we’ve been overwhelmed with this year’s level of support. Our training expert, Nick Perkins, was on hand yesterday, to answer questions about gate safety and gave a morning and afternoon presentation which was extremely well attended.
Questions centred around Gate Safety Week, legislation, training and the DHF’s new code of practice, DHF TS 011: 2016, which is the first comprehensive guide for the powered gate industry, aimed at raising standards and reducing risk. Nick also highlighted some of the most recent, needless tragedies as a result of poorly fitted and maintained powered gates.
Gate Safety Week 2017:
Next week, we will be launching Gates Safety Week 2017. It’s never too early to campaign, educate, inform and raise awareness of the dangers of automated gates. And so, we’ve decided to turn Gate Safety Week into an on-going annual campaign. The fourth year of this DHF Initiative, led by DHF, starts on Monday. Will you join us in spreading the word about the Gate Safety Week campaign?
Year-round support for Gate Safety week:
It’s never too late to offer your own message of support and we will be in touch with members and organisations across the industry going forward, to encourage as many of you as possible to take an active role in the campaign. If in the meantime, if you have your own ideas and feedback about this year’s Gate Safety Week initiative, do get in touch!
